SMART Goal Setting: Create SMART Goals.

SMART goal setting is essential to success. You need a plan if you want to have a vibrant future, but setting goals can be intimidating. Goals help you to outline your ideal future and keep you on track. However, for a plan to be successful, it needs to be realistic.

Learn to create SMART Goals that set you up for success.

What is SMART Goal Setting?

SMART is a popular acronym in the business world.

S = Specific

Goals should be clear and well-defined. You need to know what you are doing if you hope to succeed.

M = Measurable

You should be able to measure the progress of your goals. Creating measurable goals allows you to see your progress and keeps you motivated.

A = Achievable

Goals should apply to your current situation. You would not set a goal to be a famous singer if you cannot sing, for example. Successful plans fit with your current path and move you slightly towards your desired direction.

R = Realistic

In line with the idea above, your goal must be realistic. If your goal is to sprout feathers, grow wings, and fly away, you will be left feeling disappointed. Keep your goals sensible to avoid failure from the start.

T = Timely

Your goals should have a timeline. Outline a deadline and stick to it as much as possible. Sticking to a schedule will motivate you and allow you to reassess (and adjust) your trajectory as needed.

The very first step in SMART goal setting is to decide what you want in life.

SMART goal setting is about seeing your ideal future and working towards it in increments.

Do you want to be rich? happy? Are you hoping to have children? Do you want to be promoted at work?

Ask yourself these questions and consider the answers carefully.

If your goal is to be rich, how rich do you need to be to feel happy?
What does happiness look like to you?
If your plan involves having children, how many children do you hope to have?

Once you know what you want, you can outline the steps you need to achieve to get there.

To be rich, you will need a job, you will probably want to open a savings account, and you will need a savings plan. Therefore, you may also want to create a reasonable budget that you can comfortably follow.

On the other hand, if your goal is to have four children, you will need a partner – or at least some kind of plan.

Defining the steps involved in achieving your goals will create a more solid outline for achieving success.

In addition, by planning the steps involved in each objective, you will create a roadmap that you can easily follow and change as needed.

This process also works to motivate you and help you re-evaluate as required.

SMART Goal Setting: The Road to Success Begins by Getting Started:

If you want to be SMART, you have to START!

Regardless of your goal, once you decide what you want, you need to start working towards achieving that.

A plan is nothing without action.

Therefore, you must outline all the small steps involved in each goal and start down the road to success.

Decide where you need to begin by looking at where you hope to end up. Consider all the things that must happen for you to get to the imagined finish line.

Much like a crossword puzzle, creating achievable goals involves filling in the blanks.

For example, if your goal is to get a promotion at work, you can begin by working harder at your job. seeking opportunities for advancement, or enhancing your current skills. Each goal has a subset of smaller goals, and each will move you closer to your ultimate objective.

The key to SMART goal setting is momentum. Getting started is the most challenging part of any goal, but the sky will become the limit once you get going.

Outline your plan and get ready to jump in and swim!

Until Next Time,

Dream Big or Stay Home.
