The One Thing Challenge

In an earlier post, I wrote about The One Thing Challenge.

What is the one thing challenge? How does it work? Why should you do it?

Writing down things to be thankful for in the one thing challenge

The One Thing Challenge…

The One Thing Challenge is like a shopping list for your soul.

The steps in this challenge are very straightforward and require minimal effort on your part.

The One Thing Challenge consists of positive thoughts about yourself that you create and record over time.

Grab yourself a notebook or blank word document and let’s get started.

How It’s Done:

The One Thing Challenge can be applied to all aspects of your life. It works wonderfully for building self-esteem and gratitude. The One Thing Challenge aims to inspire positive self-talk and combat negative thinking.

What is the point of the One Thing Challenge?

The entire premise of this challenge is to fill your head with positive thoughts, one at a time.

For example, if you are aiming to improve your body image you will start each day by thinking of and writing down one thing you love about your body. Perhaps you are trying to improve your overall self-image. For this, list one thing you love about yourself. Similarly, if you are trying to increase your self-esteem, jot down something that you do well or an accomplishment you are proud of

Choose a topic of focus:

You can do The One Thing Challenge for literally ANYTHING! (e.g. build a better relationship by recording one thing you love about your partner every day, something you love about work or anything positive to focus on that day).

Whatever topic you choose, be consistent. You must record ONE THING each day for at least 30 days!

30 days will fly by, but then what?

At the end of the 30 days, go back and read what you have written. The only rules are consistency and NO EDITING. You are welcome to add more than one idea if they come to mind and you can continue for longer than 30 days if you feel inspired.

In fact, this activity is a great way to start your day on a positive note. This exercise has been a big part of my morning routine for more than ten years and has inspired me to do wonderful and amazing things.

The goal is to gather ideas that you can refer to in times of need.

You will be armed with a valuable tool for the future:

This activity will provide you with a tool that is fantastic on days when you are feeling down or in moments of need. These brief messages to yourself will remind you that life is not so bad. This exercise will show you how much you have to be thankful for, and help you find more as well.

While the challenge sounds pretty simple, you will find that it gets harder as the days go on.

I encourage you to share your ideas in the comments section of this website to help inspire others that may be struggling with things to write.

Until Next Time…

Do ONE Thing that makes you happy!
